Phoenix Mazda Shoppers Get A First Look At The New Mazda CX-3
The 2019 Mazda CX-3 is a subcompact crossover, and it could be seen as one of the ultimate examples of how far the auto industry has come in terms of blurring the lines between SUVs and cars these days. The CX-3 has the tall stance and shape of an SUV, but it combines those attributes with the fabulous driving experience of a hatchback. The available all-wheel drive system adds even more capability. Before checking it out in person at the Phoenix Mazda dealership, here are a few details of what to expect from the 2019 Mazda CX-3.
The first of many notable attributes the 2019 Mazda CX-3 can boast about is the way it looks when you come across one at a dealership like Phoenix Mazda. Many manufacturers have produced what are basically tall hatchbacks to cash in on the hot streak for all things crossover, but few, if any, have managed to carry it off in such spectacular style as Mazda. There's a slightly refreshed front grille for the new model year, but on the whole, the 2019 Mazda CX-3 is very similar to the previous model year. There's no problem with that though, as this is without doubt one of the most beautiful vehicles of its type available today.
Mazda keeps things straightforward with trim levels for the 2019 CX-3, as there are just three clearly defined versions to choose from. The entry point to the CX-3 range is now the CX-3 Sport, which is a very well-equipped model, and far too good to be referred to as a base model. The next trim in the middle of the lineup is the CX-3 Touring, which takes the impressive Sport and builds upon it further. The top-of-the-line model is the CX-3 Grand Touring, a genuine competitor to luxury rivals costing considerably more.
The powertrain of the 2019 Mazda CX-3 is equally as straightforward as its trim levels. All models get the same 2.0-liter inline-four which has been slightly upgraded this year and now produces 148 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels, although, but all-wheel drive is an available option. Grand Touring models also get standard paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
CX-3 Sport models get standard air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, pushbutton start, a rear spoiler, Mazda Connect infotainment with Bluetooth streaming and phone connectivity, a 7-inch full color touchscreen display, cruise control and plenty more. The CX-3 Touring adds 18-inch alloys, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, leatherette seats, heated front seats and Mazda's advanced keyless entry system. Grand Touring models get really luxurious with the addition of leather upholstery, a Bose seven-speaker sound system, a full set of LED lights, HD Radio, adaptive front lights, Active Driving Display and navigation.
A lightweight design and a very economical engine deliver impressive fuel economy ratings for the 2019 Mazda CX-3. The EPA ratings for the 2019 CX-3 with front-wheel drive returns 29 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway and 31 mpg combined.* The available all-wheel drive system adds an additional 150 pounds of weight, and the fuel economy figures are reduced slightly to a still-impressive 27/32/29 mpg.
